Test Results

Bruest heaters provide fastest start-up, and the most uniform,
reliable heating of any catalytic heater on the market.  In March
2002, SGS U.S. Testing Company Inc. conducted a series of tests
to evaluate and compare the Bruest catalytic heater and two
equivalent-capacity systems manufactured by CCI and Catco.
The study sought to determine:

  • speed of start-up
  • uniformity of surface temperature
  • average surface temperature
  • time to reach full operational temperature

The Testing Procedure

The Catco Model 1224, CCI-Model Wx12X24, and Bruest
Model S1224FM were evaluated for surface temperature using
a thermal imaging system (TVS 2000ST) with radiometric
temperature measurement capability.  The operation of the
heaters was performed per each individual manufacturer’s
instructions.  Photographs from the thermal imaging system
at the 20-minute and one-hour point, after preheat power
was started, are shown to the right.

Conclusions

According to SGS U.S. Testing, “The Bruest model reached
temperature faster, and during the first hour of test had a higher
temperature spread across the entire surface of the heater.”

Bruest heaters provide an unmatched combination of fast
start-up, uniform surface temperature, highest average surface
temperature and fastest achievement of full operational
temperature.   Flameless infrared heaters by Bruest deliver
a long service life and require minimal maintenance – many
have been in continuous service for more than two decades
without the need for overhaul or repair.

Bruest products are ideal for a broad range of applications,
including freeze protection for gas measurement and regulation
equipment, both on-shore and off-shore.  They are an excellent
choice for the heating of meter buildings, compressor buildings
and as a pipeline heater or valve heater.  They provide comfortable,
cost-efficient personnel heating as well.

Bruest heaters are exceptionally well-suited to virtually all
climate conditions, and are ideal heaters to stop freeze-ups.
They are highly preferred for areas (such as flammable
products storage and compressor buildings) where there’s
a hazardous condition.

Bruest catalytic heaters are approved by Factory Mutual for
use as Class 1 heating equipment, Division 2, Group D hazardous
areas, and by Canadian Standards Assn. for use in all Class 1,
Division 1 and 2, Group D hazardous locations.

Bruest Catalytic Heaters has served the gas and oil industry
for over 40 years and is a leading manufacturer of radiant heating
equipment.  Our flameless infrared catalytic heaters are used by
all major production, transmission and distribution companies.
